Traditionally water power in energy terms has meant large hyrdoelectric power plant. It supplies roughly a fifth of the electricity in the world. However concerns about the impact in displacing local people has limited its growth. There are some possibilities for smaller hydro schemes still in the UK, but much interest is in wave power and todal power schemes. That is the main focus here.
